Belgrade: Unveiling a Time Machine

Time and space, their mutual relation, represent the core of my artistic research. Acting in the field of new and expanded media, I’m trying to find new challenges over and over again, giving myself the freedom to play with them, sometimes going to other times and other spaces. But each time I return and intensify the present moment.
And while the next moment from the future becomes present, previous moment of the present is already part of the past. Indefinitely, believing that our senses are registering only one time, one permanence. However, digital extended medium is offering a possibility of questioning, perhaps extending the perception of realistically observed reality. In that sense, with this exhibit and project “Belgrade: unveiling time machine”, the author continues to investigate the potential overlapping of multiple times, realities at the same location where the chosen objects represent the only unchangeable circumstances as referent points.
New media allow us to create unlimited digital archives that do not have to be just the simple warehouse space. Besides physical, digital storing of experiences of space and time, the author is trying to conserve the experience of location’s spirit itself. Drawings of Luka M. Mladenovic were used as a starting reference in order to explain that. He was a significant Belgrade graphic artist, chronical of Belgrade between two world wars. With use of the augmentative realities, the chosen locations are becoming alive, and these digital permeable membranes, like the time machine, are allowing us to experience multiple times i.e. multiple different realities of the single location at the same time, simultaneously. In that way we are inspired to question the reality of one time, one permanence and potentially justifying the existence of the imagined time machine, through the vision of the author of this exhibition.
